Matcha Party!

So Matthias and I are looking to sell our house and possibly move to one of the bigger centers – Edmonton or Calgary. We currently havent decided which city yet… waiting for me to find a job in one of the two. If anyone has any tips or suggestions on either one, please share!

Anyways, so getting a house ready to sell. Just what everyone wants to do in their spare time, right? Okay, maybe not.

I have a mile long list of to-do’s but this week I crossed off 2, a big clean (done by a cleaning company), and paint the house. The house looks infinitely better already, but everyday I have worked on extra small tasks to try to bring it all together.

mtchaThat being said, after working a full day the last thing I want to do is go full-on-clean-mode. Enter Kiss Me Organics Organic Matcha Powder. Such a great pick me up for the days that I feel that afternoon slump but don’t immediately want to run to coffee or sugar.

Did you know? One glass of matcha is the equivalent of 10 glasses of green tea in terms of its nutritional value and antioxidant content. Instant energy boost!

Amongst its many benefits, matcha…

  • Is packed with antioxidants including the powerful EGCg
  • Boosts metabolism and burns calories
  • Detoxifies effectively and naturally
  • Calms and relaxes
  • Enhances mood and aids in concentration
  • Provides vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium
  • Fights against viruses and bacteria
  • Is rich in fiber
  • Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar
  • Does not raise insulin levels

I like my matcha most in a green smoothie. Kiss Me Organics Matcha blends perfectly. It has a subtle “Green” taste, but is isn’t overpowering when mixed with the other ingredients!

Mango Matcha Smoothie – Serves 1

  • 1 cup Coconut Milk (I use So Delicious Unsweetened)
  • 1 cup Frozen Organic Mango Chunks
  • 1 cup Organic Greens of Choice (I used Earthbound Farms Organic Greens Mix)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Kiss Me Organics Matcha

  1. Add all ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend.
  3. Enjoy!
  4. Run around like a maniac and clean the house.

Disclaimer: Kiss Me Organics kindly provided me with a free bag of Matcha Powder in exchange for a review. Of course all opinions are my own.

  1. Hey! I was born and raised in Edmonton, and I can honestly say I love it. I am especially finding these days that it is a great place to be for young professionals. There are new things popping up everywhere, and I think in 10 years it will have grown a lot. I work for a couple small businesses in town (a personal training studio & an interior designer), and I see everyday the opportunities here. I follow your blog, so I know you’ve been to Edmonton before, but it really is a great place to live. Especially in the summertime, we have the biggest Fringe festival, the biggest river valley, and tons of other festivals throughout the summer months.

Ok, that’s all haha. Just needed to put in a good word for my city!

    • I’ve loved Edmonton for a long time! Every time I go there it feels like I’m almost going “home” in a sense. I also understand the geography better than Calgary because I lived there for 2 1/2 months during nursing school!

  2. Hey Amie!
I’ve got to weigh in for Calgary. Dana and I’ve lived in Calgary for 6 years now and we love it. Calgary is great for many reasons:
    – STAMPEDE – 10 days of wild, cowboy-clad fun that makes a city of a million people seem like a close-knit community
    – proximity to the Rocky Mountains – Banff is so close for hiking, skiing/snowboarding, and getaways
    – winter chinooks – yes Calgary gets cold snaps, but we also get awesome warm chinooks frequently to make us forget the cold snaps
    – great restaurants – always new ones to try – you might like The Coup I think
    – car2go city

    Yay Calgary!

    • Hi Kait :)
So Matthias and I looked at houses in the south end 2 weeks ago and we both really liked it! It didn’t seem to take to long to get to the north end of the city and it was really easily laid out. I have tried the coup! It’s delicious there :) and your so right about being close to banff – it’s a huge draw.
